Neo Catalog folder is huge

I am considering replacing LR-classic with Luminar Neo (which I have purchased as part of a bundle deal).

I started Neo (V1.21.2 (13959)) with ONE Canon CR3 file (32MB) in the default Catalog, with minor "Light/Curves" adjustments.

The resulted catalog folder "Luminar Neo Catalog" is 5.77GB (GIGA bytes ) !!!
- 3167 files
- 783 sub folders
In particular, the "CacheDocuments" subfolder is 4.43 GB !!
- If this is deleted, Neo recreates it (only 97.1 MB), and all the editing is gone.
=> The editing database of one raw file is more than 4.3 GB ?

By the way, the backup is 1.25GB

I am just concern how Neo would scale to handle 50K raw photos.

PS : In LR, I have one catalog per year : 15K - 20K RAWs.

mmmhh... sounds that somethinbg is wrong.

I have a fresh Luminar Neo (version 1.21.2) with only 1 or 2 images. Here is a screenshot of my size.

But no editing yet.

Now I just changed 2 sliders for light and dark areas and this is what changed:

Nothing special as you can see. Nowhere near to GB ;)

I did the same experiment :
- delete the catalog
- relocate the test file to another directory
- re-edit the photo
The catalog size is about 120MB ... inline with yours.
?? does the catalog size scale linearly at 120MB/photo ?

I would speculate the cause of the issue : accumulation of photo masks.
- Being 1st time using NEO, I was experimenting, in particular, masking.
- Being experimental, I was masking and "reset" the editing close to 100 times.
- I would speculate that resting an edit does not remove the mask from the catalog.
?? if this is the case, is there a way to "optimize" the catalog ??

You can try limiting the size of the catalog.

Hello, is there any update on this?
I am trying Luminar Neo, in replacement of Lightroom. I only added few pictures folder to the catalogue.
Actually I have 5000 images, in 5 different system folder that are approx 50GB of pics.
I only edited few (because I am basically trying the software), but these few pics that I edited were heavily edited.

My problem is that the Catalogue folder is already 24GB, (cachedocument 20GB and previewcache 1GB) is now.
Yesterday I edited a couple of photos (60mpx) and is seems that the catalogue folder increases size 600-800Mb each.

Do you have this problem too? I am scared that if it keeps going this way, I will soon have a huge catalogue folder.

In comparison, my lightroom catalogue folder is around 20GB and there are more than 30.000 images there with many more that were edited.

Ps. I wrote to support but at the moment, I don't have any answer different than I can cancel the folder, losing the edits or that if I cancel a picture, the edit history and files will be deleted, freeing disk space.

Kind regards
